ARTWORK & CARE

  • There are several options for framing your new print.

    1. You can have it professionally framed.

    2. Frame it yourself. All of my prints come with a white border to make them easier to mat. You can either buy the mat and frame separately or together. You will want a mat with an opening that is the same size as the artwork size. If you buy the mat separately from the frame, you will want a frame with an opening the same size as the outside of the mat so that it will fit. Framing with a mat creates a little space between the artwork and glass which gives it some room to “breathe” and is recommended for avoiding any issues with the artwork touching the glass, like mold. To prevent the artwork from slipping in the frame, I recommend getting some “Artist’s Tape” for framing. Center the print in the mat how you want it to be displayed. On the back of the mat, secure the print in place with the tape.

    3. You can also buy a floating frame that will fit the total size of the artwork including the white border, so if the artwork size is 8x10” with a ½” white border, the opening of the frame will need to have an opening at least 9x11”. This is a useful route for odd sized prints.

Pro tips: Michael’s has some very affordable frames with mats.

  • A Limited Edition reproduction means that the artwork will only be printed as a reproduction a certain number of times. So if the edition is 50, only 50 copies will be made and then it will no longer be available as a reproduction. Generally, Limited Edition Reproductions are priced higher than Open Edition reproductions. A reproduction is a copy of an original piece of artwork. In the art world, this is differentiated from a “print” that is made by a printmaker by creating a drawing on a hard surface, inking the drawing, and transferring it onto another surface (which is considered an “original” work of art). Because reproductions are known in the public sphere as a “print”, I use the terms interchangeably on my site.

  • Yes, all of my prints follow the giclee process.

  • All of my reproductions are printed using archival inks on archival paper, meaning they are very durable if handled properly. In order to make them last as long as possible, use archival framing materials, such as an acid-free mat and backing and not allowing the print to come into contact with the frame itself. You can purchase a conservator's glass that has UV protection which protects the print from sunshine. If you opt not to go this route, hang the print out of the sun. While prints make great art for the bathroom since they are lower cost, for the longest-lasting results, hanging artwork away from humid conditions is ideal.

  • A Certificate of Authenticity is a document certifying that the artwork is a legitimate original or reproduction of the artist. It generally contains details like the title, medium, date of completion, edition if applicable, sometimes a picture of the art itself, and is signed by the artist, certifying the legitimacy. If you are a serious collector, you will always want a Certificate of Authenticity.

  • I follow best practices for artwork that will last you for years to come by using two layers of GAC-100 to seal the wood and two layers of gesso to help the paint adhere to the surface.

  • My acrylic paintings are sealed with 2 layers of Isolation Coat to protect the paint from the varnish and allow the varnish to be safely removed in the future. They are finished with 1-2 coats of Golden UV Polymer removable Varnish to protect your cherished artwork for years to come!

  • To clean, wipe gently with a microfiber cloth. Most of my acrylic pieces are coated with a UV protectant, so you can hang anywhere, but for the most longevity, hanging out of direct sunlight is ideal. Keep original artworks away from humid areas, like the bathroom or near appliances in the kitchen that release a lot of steam, like the stove.

  • Prints are unframed unless there is a “framed” option in the drop down menu (and you select this option). All original works come ready to hang with a wire across the back or a French cleat.
